UPDATE: As of March 16, 2023, this production has been postponed indefinitely and will no longer go up on Broadway in the 2022-23 season.

More actors have entered the room. Complete casting has been set for Room, the new play by Emma Donoghue based on her bestselling book of the same name. Performances begin at the James Earl Jones Theatre on April 3 ahead of an April 17 opening.

Room centers on a woman and her son kept in captivity in a single room for years. When they finally escape their captor, they must face the wider world and the challenges of readjustment. Donoghue first published her story as a 2010 novel, which she later adapted into a 2015 film starring Brie Larson and into a 2017 stage play, which premiered in London.

The Room play features songs by Kathryn Joseph and Cora Bissett; Bissett also directs.

Who is in the Room Broadway cast?

Joining the previously announced Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren as Ma are Tony nominee Ephraim Sykes as SuperJack, Tina Benko as Interviewer/Police Officer, Michael Genet as Grandpa/Doctor, Triney Sandoval as Old Nick, and three-time Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award nominee Kate Burton as Grandma. Aiden Mekhi Sierra and Christopher Woodley will alternate in the role of Little Jack.

Additionally, Anthony Chatmon II will understudy the role of SuperJack, and Alexis Gordon will understudy Ma. Gordon won a Dora Award for her performance as Ma in Room's North American premiere production in Toronto and now makes her Broadway debut.
