QuaranTune #14: "Waving Through A Window" from Dear Evan Hansen

A show tune a day keeps the quarantine blues at bay...

All around the world people are waving through their windows, apart but still connecting with their neighbors and showing their support for their local health workers, currently risking their own lives to save others. We dedicate today's #QuaranTune to all of these courageous doctors, nurses and carers across the globe.

Written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, "Waving Through A Window" was first released as a special early download for Dear Evan Hansen fans who had pre-ordered the Original Broadway Cast Recording and it was also the chosen musical number for the 71st Annual Tony Awards ceremony. Pasek and Paul would win their first Tony Award for 'Best Original Score' later that evening. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 on February 25, 2017 and won the 2018 Grammy Award for 'Best Musical Theater Album.'

Here's Tony Award winner and original cast member Ben Platt performing the song at the 2017 Tony Awards ceremony...

And for all you Katy Perry fans out there, here's the pop princess's rendition which was released on November 2, 2018...

So I wait around for an answer to appear, While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass, Waving through a window. Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me? (Evan Hansen, Dear Evan Hansen)
