‘Prince F****t’ to play encore Off-Broadway run this fall

The speculative fiction play by Jordan Tannahill just wrapped its world-premiere engagement with Playwrights Horizons, which opened in June to critical acclaim.

Jordan Tannahill’s acclaimed drama Prince Faggot will play an encore run off Broadway at Studio Seaview this fall, running from September 11 to October 26.

Described in the script as a work of “queer fabulation,” Prince Faggot imagines what life would be like for Prince George of Sussex if he were gay and came out in the public eye, with an all-queer cast of performers acting out a world in which royalty and queerness are not mutually exclusive.

Today, Prince Faggot completed its world-premiere run at Playwrights Horizons, presented jointly with Soho Rep. The show opened in June and received critical acclaim; New York Theatre Guide’s review calls it a “thought-provoking examination of queerness within the Royal Family.”

Director Shayok Misha Chowdhury returns, as does the original cast from the Playwrights Horizons run: Mihir Kumar as Performer 1, K. Todd Freeman as Performer 2 (starting September 27), Rachel Crowl as Performer 3, N’yomi Allure Stewart as Performer 4, David Greenspan as Performer 5, and John McCrea as Performer 6. Tyrone Mitchell Henderson joins as Performer 2 from September 11-26.

The creative team includes set designer David Zinn, costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, sound designer and composer Lee Kinney, wig and hair designer Cookie Jordan, vocal coach Deborah Hecht, and dramaturg Sarah Lunnie. Intimacy coordination is by UnkleDave’s Fight-House, aerial effects by Paul Rubin, special effects by JFMX, and properties by Matt Carlin.
