Casting for Playwrights Horizons's production of Tambo & Bones has been announced ahead of the play's Off-Broadway world premiere on January 12. The show, written by Dave Harris and directed by Taylor Reynolds, opens January 31 and will run through February 20.

W. Tré Davis and Tyler Fauntleroy will star as Tambo and Bones, respectively. In the play, the two title characters discover they've been written into a minstrel show. Their plan: "Get out, get bank, get even." Tambo & Bones is described as a "rags-to-riches hip-hop odyssey," in which the characters challenge how media capitalizes on stories based on Black stereotypes, and they test the limits of how Black people can characterize and perform their identity.

The cast also includes Brendan Dalton as X-BOT 2 and Dean Linnard as X-BOT 1. The show features scenic design by Stephanie Osin Cohen, costume design by Dominique Fawn Hill, lighting design by Amith Chandrashaker, sound design by Mikhail Fiksel, and music by Justin Ellington.

The evening performances on January 18, 23, and 25 will be followed by discussions with members of the creative team and Playwrights Horizons artistic staff. In addition, the February 13 matinee will have audio descriptions available.
