New York Theatre Workshop announces cast of Sanctuary City
Martyna Majok's Sanctuary City is set to begin performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on March 4, 2020.
New York Theatre Workshop has now confirmed casting for its upcoming production of Sanctuary City, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok and directed by Rebecca Frecknall.
The cast includes Jasai Chase-Owens (as B), Sharlene Cruz (as G), and Austin Smith (as Henry).
Synopsis: "DREAMers. Lovers. Life-long friends. Negotiating the promise of safety and the weight of responsibility, they'll fight like hell to establish a place for themselves and each other in America."
The newly announced creative team also features scenic and costume design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Obie Award winner Isabella Byrd, and sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman.
Although this is a New York Theatre Workshop production, the play will be staged at the Lucille Lortel Theatre by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Previews are scheduled to begin on March 4, 2020, ahead of an official opening on March 24 and a limited engagement through April 12, 2020.
New York Theatre Workshop's 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season also includes Celine Song's Endlings and a new production of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold and starring Academy Award nominee Greta Gerwig and Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac.
