Data, a new drama by Matthew Libby, will play the Lucille Lortel Theatre this spring, running off Broadway for an 11-week engagement beginning January 9. Opening night is January 25.

Data is a thriller about a brilliant young programmer named Maneesh, who develops an algorithm that is used for a major AI surveillance project, sparking an ethical dilemma as he decides whether to challenge the project or protect his career.

Karan Brar (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) stars as Maneesh, reprising his role from Data’s 2024 world premiere at Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. New to the Off-Broadway cast are Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why) as Jonah, Sophia Lillis (It) as Riley, and Justin H. Min (The Umbrella Academy) as Alex.

Tyne Rafaeli directs, and the creative team also includes costume designer Enver Chakartash, set designer Marsha Ginsberg, composer and sound designer Daniel Kluger, and lighting designer Amith Chandrashaker.

“When we first discovered Matthew Libby’s thrilling new play Data, we were immediately struck by how powerfully it speaks to our current moment,” the show's producers said in a joint statement. “It’s an innovative, fast-paced play exploring the tension between technology and morality.”
