Jessica Hecht, Thomas Middleditch to star in 'Eureka Day' on Broadway
The full cast has been announced for the New York premiere of Jonathan Spector's comedy play, which first played to critical acclaim in London in 2022.
School is in session! Manhattan Theatre Club has announced casting for its production of Eureka Day on Broadway, which begins performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on November 25 ahead of a December 16 opening.
The complete Eureka Day cast includes Emmy and Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht (Special, Friends), Emmy nominee Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Tony nominee and Grammy winner Amber Gray (Hadestown), Tony winner Bill Irwin (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), and Zoë Chao (If You Were the Last).
Jonathan Spector's play, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, takes place at the fictional California private elementary school of the title. When a mumps outbreak sweeps the school, the board of directors must reevaluate its lax vaccine policy and make hard choices that won't make everyone happy.
Before coming to Broadway, Eureka Day premiered in London to critical acclaim. A four-star review on London Theatre reads, "Eureka Day is incredibly funny [...] It’s easily the most I’ve laughed in a theatre this year."
