Jasmine Cephas Jones, Grace McLean & more join Peter Dinklage in Cyrano
The New Group's production of Cyrano is scheduled to begin performances at the Daryl Roth Theatre on October 12, 2019.
The New Group has now revealed the complete cast to join previously announced "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage in the upcoming production of Cyrano (based on Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand), which kicks off the company's 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season. Previews are set to begin at the Daryl Roth Theatre on October 12, 2019, ahead of an official opening on November 7 and a limited run through November 24, 2019.
The full cast of Cyrano includes Peter Dinklage in the titular role, alongside Ritchie Coster (as De Guiche), Josh A. Dawson (as Le Bret), Hillary Fisher (as Orange Girl), Christopher Gurr (as Jodelet), Blake Jenner (as Christian), Jasmine Cephas Jones (as Roxanne), Nehal Joshi (as Ragueneau), Grace McLean (as Chaperone Marie), and Scott Stangland (as Montgomery). Erika Olson will serve as Swing.
Cyrano is adapted and directed by Erica Schmidt, who is married to Mr. Dinklage, and features music by Aaron Dessner & Bryce Dessner of The National, lyrics by Matt Berninger of The National & Carin Besser, and is choreographed by Jeff and Rick Kuperman.
Synopsis: "A raw and transporting new version of the classic tale of unrequited love and ghostwritten letters, Cyrano tells the story of a proud man who believing himself unlovable, agrees to woo the woman he loves for another. With a charged contemporary immediacy to the language, this adaptation by Erica Schmidt mines this enduring, human story for its deep vein of heartbroken yearning, with haunting and compelling music by members of the Grammy Award-winning band The National and the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Peter Dinklage in the title role."
The creative team also includes music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, scenic design by Christine Jones & Amy Rubin, costume design by Tom Broecker, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
Back in August 2018, a developmental production of Cyrano was presented by Goodspeed Musicals.
