New York Theatre Workshop has now confirmed that Pulitzer Prize finalist Clare Barron has been enlisted to adapt Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters for the upcoming production, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, as part of NYTW's 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season.

Ms. Barron's previous plays include Dance NationYou Got Older, I'll Never Love Again, and Baby Screams Miracle.

In addition, NYTW has revealed complete casting to join previously announced Academy Award nominee Greta Gerwig (as Masha) and Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac (as Vershinin). The cast will also include Obie Award winner Quincy Tyler Bernstine (as Olga), Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Steve Buscemi (as Chebutykin), Emily Davis (as Natasha), Michael Benjamin Hernandez (as Fedotik), John Christopher Jones (as Ferapont), Lola Kirke (as Irina), Anthony Michael Lopez (as Rohde), Matthew Maher (as Tusenbach), Chris Messina (as Solyony), Aaron Clifton Moten (as Andrei), Ben Sinclair (as Kulygin), and Virginia Wing (as Anfisa).

NYTW Usual Suspect Sam Gold revisits Chekhov following his acclaimed 2012 production of Uncle Vanya that was heralded as "luminous" and "the most intimate and engaging exploration of Chekhov's bleak comedy." This production of Three Sisters reunites Gold with two previous collaborators: The Village Bike's Greta Gerwig and Hamlet's Oscar Isaac.

Three Sisters is set to begin previews at New York Theatre Workshop on May 13, 2020, ahead of an official opening on June 1 and a limited engagement through July 12, 2020.

The creative team behind Three Sisters features scenic design by Andrew Lieberman & Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos, lighting design by Tony Award nominee Jane Cox, sound design by Mikaal Sulaiman, and music direction by Michelle DiBucci.

NYTW's 2019-2020 season also includes the current production of Endlings, a new play by Celine Song, which continues its run through March 29, 2020, and Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok's Sanctuary City, which plays the Lucille Lortel Theatre from March 4 through April 12, 2020.

Greta Gerwig last appeared on the New York stage in MCC Theater's 2014 production of The Village Bike, also under the direction of Sam Gold, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. She earned two Academy Award nominations in 2018 - for her original screenplay and direction of "Lady Bird" - and earned a third Oscar nomination this year for her adapted screenplay of "Little Women." She is also widely known for her Golden Globe-nominated portrayal of Frances in the 2012 film "Frances Ha," alongside roles in the likes of "Greenberg" (2010), "Mistress America" (2015), "Jackie" (2016), and "20th Century Women" (2016).

Oscar Isaac was directed by Sam Gold in the titular role of Hamlet at the Public Theater in the summer of 2017. He won a Golden Globe in 2016 for his performance in "Show Me a Hero," and earned a Golden Globe nomination in 2014 for "Inside Llewyn Davis." He is perhaps best known for his roles as Nathan in the 2014 movie "Ex Machina" and as Poe Dameron in 2017's "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and 2019's "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."
