David Byrne will be "Burning Down the House" again this coming fall! Following the final performance of the Broadway premiere of David Byrne's American Utopia at the Hudson Theatre yesterday, the New Wave icon has now confirmed that the production will return later this year for a special encore engagement on the Great White Way.

The limited 17-week run will begin performances at the Hudson Theatre on September 18, 2020 and play through January 17, 2021.

Byrne commented: "It's become obvious to us in the band, the crew and the producer team that audiences want, dare I say need? To see this show. They're not ready to have it disappear just yet. We feel the same way, we love doing this show. So, it's thrilling to us that we can announce that we'll be back in September."

In addition, David Byrne's American Utopia is also set to appear on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on February 29 and a filmed version of the Broadway show, under the direction of Academy Award winner Spike Lee, will also be released later this year in conjunction with its Broadway return.

David Byrne's American Utopia is headlined by 'Talking Heads' singer/songwriter David Byrne, who once again teamed up with his Here Lies Love collaborators, choreographer Annie-B Parson and production consultant Alex Timbers, to stage this theatrical concert, inspired by his #1 album "American Utopia."

Synopsis: "David Byrne's American Utopia is the once-in-a-lifetime Broadway event that marks a major cultural milestone in the worlds of music and theatre. Innovative pop/rock icon David Byrne shares the spotlight with a diverse ensemble of 11 musical artists from around the globe, delivering a theatrical concert that's as surprisingly poignant as it is supremely funky."

Following a hugely successful international tour, which visited 27 countries and played more than 150 dates in 2018, the Broadway premiere began previews at the Hudson Theatre on October 4, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 20 and an extended engagement through February 16, 2020. Alongside Mr. Byrne, the cast also includes Jacquelene Acevedo, Gustavo Di Dalva, Daniel Freedman, Chris Giarmo, Tim Keiper, Tendayi Kuumba, Karl Mansfield, Mauro Refosco, Stephane San Juan, Angie Swan, and Bobby Wooten III.

The creative team behind David Byrne's American Utopia also features musical direction by Karl Mansfield, lighting design by Rob Sinclair, and sound design by Pete Keppler.

The "American Utopia" album was released in March 2018 and became David Byrne's first recording to reach the top spot on the Album Chart, as well as the top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The theatrical concert features songs from the album of the same name, alongside earlier hits from Talking Heads and Byrne's solo career.
