Complete cast set for Off-Broadway return of 'Slam Frank'

Most of the originating ensemble returns for the Orpheum Theatre run of this darkly satirical musical.

The complete cast of Slam Frank has been named for the Orpheum Theatre production, running from September 17 to November 30.

Most of the originating ensemble from the developmental run will return to their roles, including: Olivia Bernábe as Anita (Anne), Alex Lewis as Peter, Austen Horne as Edith, Rocky Paterra as Otto, John Anker Bow as Mr. Van Daan, Jaz Zepatos as Mrs. Van Daan, Walker Stovall as Asst. Stage Manager, and Amelia Louise Barr joins the cast as Margot. Understudies include Olamide Asanpaola, Ashlyn Combs, Matthew Krob, Isabella Orosco and Keegan Sells.

Slam Frank is inspired by a viral tweet from 2022 that asked, “Did Anne Frank ever acknowledge her white privilege?" The show follows a progressive theatre company who dares to ask themselves the same question, re-creating the story of Anne Frank with a woke twist. The result is an intersectional, multi-ethnic, genderqueer, decolonized, anti-capitalist, hyper-empowering Afro-Latin hip-hop musical. Its developmental run became a cult hit, with critics praising its unhinged and hilarious take on the ignorance and benevolence involved in creating progressive theatre.

Slam Frank features music and lyrics by Andrew Fox and a book by Joel Sinensky. The creative team also includes director Sam LaFrage, choreographer Esosa Oviasu, music director Alex Harrington, scenic designer Adam Koch, costume designer Sarah Lockwood, and lighting designer Jamie Roderick. Gage Baker is the sound designer, Zack Lobel is the video designer, Nicholas Ferarri is the associate video designer, Devin Orr is the props designer, and Nikita Chernin is the stage manager.
