‘Company’ confirms Broadway return, starring Katrina Lenk and Patti LuPone

The gender-swapped revival of Company will finally have its opening night on Broadway.

UPDATE: On May 12, it was confirmed that Patti LuPone and Katrina Lenk will return to Company. On September 14, Manu Narayan was announced in the role of Theo, with the complete cast including Kathryn Allison, Britney Coleman, Jacob Dickey, Javier Ignacio, Anisha Nagarajan, Nicholas Rodriguez, Heath Saunders, Tally Sessions, and Matt Wall in the ensemble.

"Phone rings, door chimes, in comes Company!" The Broadway revival of Company will reopen at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre this December. Performances will resume from November 15, 2021, ahead of a December 9 opening night. Find out more about Company tickets on Broadway here.

"Company is a show about connecting, about the necessity of having other people in our lives" said Stephen Sondheim. "This past year, with its isolation, has reminded us all of that need for togetherness, so I'm happy that Marianne Elliott's startling and exhilarating production is coming back to Broadway. See it. It will make you laugh, make you care, and lift your spirits at a time when we need such things."  

Originally premiering on Broadway in 1970, Company follows Bobby on her 35th birthday. Everyone around Bobby is in a relationship, leaving Bobby to question a life of singledom. For the upcoming Broadway revival, Company will be gender-swapped, with the lead role of Bobby now named Bobbie, and played by a woman.

Company began previews in March 2020, before it was forced to close after nine previews.The original Broadway revival cast of Company is expected to return. The cast includes Katrina Lenk as Bobbie, with Patti LuPone,Terence Archie, Etai Benson, Nikki Renée Daniels, Matt Doyle, Claybourne Elder, Christopher Fitzgerald, Greg Hildreth, Rashidra Scott, Christopher Sieber, Jennifer Simard and Bobby Conte.

The gender-swapped version of Company was first staged at London's Gielgud Theatre in 2018, winning four Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival. In a five star review for, Mark Shenton said: "this version is both a departure into new territory and a stunning reaffirmation of its brilliance." 

Marianne Elliot directs, with choreography by Liam Steel, scenic and costume design by Bunny Christie, lighting design by Neil Austin and sound design by Ian Dickinson.

Company is at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre from November 15, 2021.
