Roundabout Theatre Company has set the cast and creative team for its production of Chinese Republicans, running at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre from February 5 to April 5. Opening night is February 26.
The Chinese Republicans cast includes Jennifer Ikeda as Ellen/Ailin, Ben Langhorst as Waiter/Daniel, Jully Lee as Iris, Jodi Long as Phyllis/Young Phyllis, and Anna Zavelson as Katie.
The show also features scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound design by Fabian Obispo, projection design by Hana Kim, hair and wig design by Tom Watson, and fight direction by UnkleDave’s Fight-House.
Written by Alex Lin and directed by Chay Yew, Chinese Republicans centers on a group of businesswomen who meet monthly to discuss their latest career achievements. When 24-year-old Katie joins the group to learn how to navigate her career, the rest of the women grapple with their lives and their sacrifices as they try to steer her in what they think is the right direction.
