Caroline, or Change features a book and lyrics by Pulitzer-winning playwright Tony Kushner and music by Tony-nominated composer Jeanine Tesori. The titular character is the maid for the Gellman family, whose young son leaves change in his pockets for Caroline when she does his laundry. What begins as a simple, kind gesture soon breeds greed and complicates the relationship between the Gellmans and Caroline's own family. Sharon D Clarke reprises the role of Caroline which she originated in London, receiving an Olivier Award for her performance.
