Can I Be Frank?, a new play based on original material by the late comedian and performance artist Frank Maya, will premiere off Broadway this summer. Performances begin at the SoHo Playhouse on July 24, running through September 13.

Written by and starring comedian, artist, and writer Morgan Bassichis, and directed by 2025 Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton (Oh, Mary!), Can I Be Frank? follows Bassichis as they showcase Maya's legacy as a queer comedian, musician, and performance artist.

Bassichis said: "I feel overjoyed to get to introduce new audiences to the work of one of our queer artistic ancestors, Frank Maya. And I really hope people take away a strong sense of liking me."

Pinkleton added: "I am so excited to spend the summer converting as much of New York City as possible into Morgan Bassichis superfans, as I have been since my very first exposure to their work. Despite what my therapist says, I do believe Morgan may just be the hero we are all looking for right now."
