Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee [Aubrey Plaza](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/stars-on-stage/aubrey-plaza) (*The White Lotus*) will appear in the *Let’s Love!* cast alongside Chris Bauer (*The Wire*), Dylan Gelula (*Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt*), Dion Graham (*The First 48*), Mary McCann (*The Welkin*), Nellie McKay (*A Play is a Poem*), Noah Robbins (*Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt*), CJ Wilson (*Manchester by the Sea*), and Mary Wiseman (*Star Trek: Discovery*).

*Let's Love!* is a trio of one-act comedy plays exploring the confusion, messiness, and "miserable glory" of love, all written by Ethan Coen, one of the four-time Oscar-winning Coen brothers filmmakers.

Neil Pepe directs *Let's Love!*, which also features sets by Riccardo Hernandez, costumes by Peggy Schnitzer, and original compositions by Nellie McKay. Additional creative team members have yet to be announced.

Atlantic Theater Company Artistic Director Neil Pepe has a long relationship working with Ethan Coen, one half of the acclaimed filmmaking duo the Coen Brothers. Pepe has also directed two other of Coen’s plays, *Offices* and *Almost an Evening*, staged at the Atlantic over a decade ago. Now, the writer returns as he looks to pivot from the screen to the stage.

*Almost an Evening*, like Coen’s new play *Let’s Love!*, was full of “tasty, bite-sized comedies,” per The New York Times, who also called Pepe and Coen “a dream team — theatergoers nostalgic for the urbane, mind-teasing divertissements that once flourished Off-Broadway should leave happily hungry.”

In his play, Coen addresses the confusing times we live in and how love acts as a balm and key. Anything but sappy, these idiosyncratic love stories reveal love — in all its miserable glory. We live in dark times, so why not live in the dark together?

What to watch for
- Neil Pepe, in addition to being the Atlantic artistic director, is also a Tony Award nominee for directing the revival of *American Buffalo*.
- Some of the Coen Brothers’ most celebrated films include *Fargo, The Big Lebowski, A Serious Man,* and *True Grit*.
- The Atlantic often premieres new works that go on to enjoy big Broadway lives, as with *The Band’s Visit, Spring Awakening, Kimberly Akimbo*, and more.
- Entertainment Weekly called *Almost an Evening*, Coen’s last play at the Atlantic, “boisterous and fun. Coen couldn’t ask for a better production than this Atlantic Theater Company treatment.”

*Let’s Love!* is a new comedy split into three acts telling three unique love stories, all written by Academy Award winner Ethan Coen.

Is it easier to go at it alone, or to find someone to weather the storm in our dark, confounding world? Experience *Let’s Love!* off Broadway to find out. One half of the Coen Brothers, Ethan Coen is more than a filmmaker: he’s also a playwright and has had lauded shows at the Atlantic before, including *Offices* and *Almost an Evening*. For that latter show, which was also directed by Pepe, The New York Times said, “Theatergoers nostalgic for the urbane, mind-teasing divertissements that once flourished Off-Broadway should leave happily hungry” and called Pepe and Coen “a dream team.”

That play was full of “tasty, bite-sized comedies,” per the Times, and now, over a decade later, Coen returns to the Atlantic with this new play, which is similarly a comedy divided into three one-acts. In *Let’s Love!*, see love in all its miserable glory. It’s a tumultuous time, and we’re a tumultuous people — but maybe we can be something stronger together.

Coen is known for his own collaborations with his brother on hit films including *Fargo, The Big Lebowski, A Serious Man, True Grit*, and others. Their films have won six Oscars and three Golden Globes. 

While most of their works are gritty and dark, Ethan’s new play perhaps shines a bit brighter — even if the love in this singular play is anything but sappy. Tickets to *Let’s Love!* in New York will be available soon.

Aubrey Plaza stars in [*Let's Love!*](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/show/41954-lets-love) off Broadway at the [Linda Gross Theater](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/venues/linda-gross-theater) from September 25 to November 9, 2025.

Aubrey Christina Plaza was born June 26, 1984 in Wilmington, Delaware. While in school, she participated in theatrical productions with the Wilmington Drama League and went on to study film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 2006.

Plaza began her career in comedy, performing with institutions including the Upright Citizens Brigade and the Laugh Factory. She transitioned to screen acting with roles in movies like *Scott Pilgrim vs. The World*, and in 2009, she landed her breakout role as the deadpan April Ludgate on the sitcom *Parks & Recreation*. Plaza starred in the show until it ended in 2015, receiving widespread acclaim for her performance.

She gained further prominence in 2016 for starring in the film *Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates* opposite Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, and Adam Devine, and the TV show *Criminal Minds* in a recurring role. Plaza ventured into producing with the films *The Little Hours* and *Ingrid Goes West* in 2017, both of which she also starred in. Between 2020 and 2022, Plaza produced and starred in two more films, *Black Bear* and *Emily the Criminal*; in between, she starred in the holiday rom-com *Happiest Season*.

In 2022, Plaza starred as the lawyer Harper Spiller in the second season of *The White Lotus*, earning Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominations. A year later, she made her professional stage debut in *Danny and the Deep Blue Sea* off Broadway, opposite *Girls*'s [Christopher Abbott](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/stars-on-stage/christopher-abbott) as Danny.

Atlantic Theater Company’s main venue is the Linda Gross Theater. The venue is a 199-seat theatre housed within the Parish House for St. Peter’s Church in the Chelsea district of Manhattan. 

The building was constructed in 1871 and has a storied history as a space for amateur performances. It also housed art exhibitions, community classes and even functioned as a practice court for the historic New York Knickerbockers baseball team. 

Atlantic permanently moved into the venue in 1991. In 2012, the company completed an $8.6 million interior renovation to modernize the space. The three-year project received $2.4 million in city funding, with the rest being supplied by Atlantic’s Board of Directors and individual and foundation donors.

Also, the A, C, E, B, D, F, and M trains stop at West 4th Street, a short walk away. There are also numerous bus lines. For those driving, there are public parking lots nearby. Please remember to check the MTA for any route changes due to maintenance or construction.
