Fox was previously the Elphaba standby in Wicked on Broadway. She also played Elphaba on the musical’s national tour, as well as understudied the leading role in the San Francisco production.

Talia Suskauer will play her final performance as Elphaba on March 5. Fox will then take over from March 7.

A prequel to The Wizard of Oz, Wicked follows the unlikely friendship between Elphaba — the Wicked Witch of the West — and Glinda the Good Witch as school roommates, before their friendship is tested and broken when one is deemed good and the other bad. Wicked celebrates its 20th anniversary on Broadway this fall.
