Aisha Jackson to join 'The Notebook' Broadway cast

The actress will replace Joy Woods in the Tony Award-nominated musical adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's bestselling romance novel and the fan-favorite film.

Aisha Jackson will join the cast of The Notebook on Broadway, playing her first show on October 22 and performing until the show closes on December 15 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

Jackson has previously appeared in the Broadway shows Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Waitress, Paradise Square, Once Upon A One More Time, and Disney's Frozen, in which she was the first Black woman to play the princess Anna on Broadway.

In The Notebook, she will play Middle Allie, replacing original cast member Joy Woods. Woods plays her final performance on October 20 as she prepares to star in the upcoming Broadway revival of Gypsy.

The current Notebook cast also includes Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie, Dorian Harewood as Older Noah, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah, Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie, John Cardoza as Younger Noah, Andréa Burns as Mother/Nurse Lori, and Carson Stewart as Johnny/Fin.

As previously announced, Tyson and Cardoza will depart the production on October 6, with Anna Zavelson and Benji Santiago taking over their respective roles.

Adapted from Nicholas Sparks's bestselling romance novel and the fan-favorite 2004 film, The Notebook follows lovers Noah and Allie and the romance they share from adolescence to old age, overcoming obstacles like class differences and illness to be together.
