The Sound of Music on Broadway tickets

With a timeless score, heartfelt story, and memorable characters, The Sound of Music in New York returns to Broadway for the first time in nearly three decades. Tony Award nominee Jasmine Amy Rogers (Boop! The Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) plays Maria in this new production directed by Tony Award nominee Lear deBessonet (Ragtime), who is also Lincoln Center Theater’s Kewsong Lee Artistic Director.

The Sound of Music plays this spring at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. Featuring well-known show tunes like "Do Re Me," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Edelweiss," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," and "(How Do You Solve a Problem Like) Maria," The Sound of Music won the Tony Award for Best Musical in its original run.

The story follows Maria, who is training to be a nun but doesn't quite fit in. She transfers to work as the governess for a family in Austria, looking after seven children whose energy she can match. She also works for their father: the strict Captain von Trapp. As they begin to fall in love, the world around them changes: the Nazis are rising to power, and their homeland of Austria may be in jeopardy.

The Sound of Music has been adored for generations and was also turned into a hit film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. That film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Now, the story returns to Broadway with an A-list team: Rogers, deBessonet, and Christopher Gattelli, the Tony Award winner who choreographs this revival.
