A New York actor finds himself in Texas prison on a drug charge –after being recognized for his performance on One Life to Live, he is offered protection by an inmate from the Texas Aryan Brotherhood in exchange for acting lessons.
Theatrical hurricane Ned Van Zandt tells his tale of the drug-induced chaos of the Chelsea Hotel in the 1970s – rubbing shoulders (and more) with Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen – the wild parties in the LA music scene with his friend Chaka Khan – and the fluorescent glare of a Texas correctional facility. This genre-bending piece of dark comedy, directed by Amir Arison (The Blacklist, The Beast in Me), cannot be missed as Van Zandt takes you through his spiraling descent: sex, fame, addiction, and ultimately…redemption.

Fascinating show exploring addiction, the prison system and human fears and desire. Lots of New York history, especially centering around the "club kid" era. It managed to offer a compassionate perspective towards people who may outwardly seem irredeemable. Wonderful performances and great use of music as a theatrical mechanism.

Its nonlinear narrative mirrors the instability of the life it portrays, moving from his imprisonment on a drug charge in Del Valle, Texas, to his Hollywood dreams, and to his time at the notorious Chelsea Hotel. A lived experience refined into art and brought to life through acting of high order.
