Get Blackout Songs tickets see the Olivier Award-nominated drama make its New York premiere. Joe White's Blackout Songs off Broadway offers a stunning portrait of love, addiction, and recovery in a fresh manner. Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road, Black Rabbit) and Owen Teague (Mrs. Fletcher, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) star in this new play that the Daily Telegraph awarded five stars for its London bow.
In Blackout Songs, a man and a woman meet in Alcoholics Anonymous before falling in love and beginning a decades-spanning affair that lifts them up and breaks them down. Addicted and bound to each other, Blackout Songs portrays a singular couple, and how within it the person who may save you is also the one who may tear your life apart.
“With Blackout Songs, I set out to write a memory play about two people who can’t trust their memories,” said White in a statement. “Who fell in love and forgot how. Who invented things to fill the gaps. Who lost track of the truth. I wanted this play to feel like someone pouring their heart out over someone and sort of reveling in the doomed romance of it all."
Rory McGregor, who directed the West End revival and the international tour of the National Theatre production of The Lehman Trilogy, stages this new play. It runs for a limited time only, from January 15 to February 28, with a January 27 opening, at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space.
The Guardian gave the play fours stars and called it "compulsive to watch," and The Financial Times also gave it four stars, saying the show is "witty, warm, and unpredictable." Now, New York audiences can experience this blazing play: Blackout Songs tickets are available now on New York Theatre Guide.
