The Heart of Rock and Roll on Broadway Information

The power of love is strong at the James Earl Jones Theatre. The songs of Huey Lewis and the News fuel The Heart of Rock and Roll on Broadway, a new feel-good show about love, ambition, and music. Check back for information on The Heart of Rock and Roll tickets on New York Theatre Guide.

The Heart of Rock and Roll musical is a romantic comedy centered on Bobby, the leader of a struggling rock band. After 10 years of trying and failing to make it big, he takes up a corporate job and meets Cassandra, the boss's daughter with bigger leadership ambitions. A romance begins, and they might be each other's key to realizing the dreams they didn't think they'd achieve.

The story of The Heart of Rock and Roll unfolds through Lewis and his band's greatest hits, like "The Power of Love," "Do You Believe in Love," "Hip to Be Square," "Workin' for a Livin'," and the title song. Huey Lewis and the News had a meteoric rise to fame in the 1980s, propelled largely by the success of "The Power of Love" as the Oscar-nominated theme song for Back to the Future.

The band went on to notch 19 top 10 singles and five top 30 albums on the Billboard charts, and all five of those albums were certified Gold, Platinum, or Multi-platinum. The band is still active today, having released its most recent album in 2020, and finding a new audience thanks to the Back to the Future Broadway musical and now, The Heart of Rock and Roll in New York. The show premiered in San Diego in 2018 before making the leap across the country.

The Heart of Rock and Roll Broadway tickets will be available soon.
