See it if Compelling play performed by 3 talented leads features typical O'Neill's themes of disillusion, appetite x material acquisition &final hope*

Resonant, Relevant, Great writing

See it if Eugene O'Neill's play about a dysfunctional Irish family in Massachusetts. Very well done typical of Irish rep Productions. A Long play

Don’t see it if thou stretched over 2 hours and 40 minutes. Could use a little trimming but definitely kept my attention.

Masterful, Intense, Thought-provoking, Strong production of a fascinating o'neill play

See it if I saw the virtual performance back in 2020 & now happy to have seen it in person. I love Irish Rep and recommend going. Cast is excellent.

Don’t see it if At 3 hrs w/ a short break, the play benefits from your close attention. Fine actors, costumes & set enhance O'Neill's brilliant dialogue.

More information about A Touch of the Poet

Proud and tempestuous Cornelius Melody (Con) owns a run-down inn and tavern near Boston in 1828. Laden with debt, Con clings to his tenuous identity as a landed gentleman and war hero and chastises his wife and daughter for actions that expose the family’s humble Irish origins. When his daughter, Sara, falls in love with a wealthy American guest at their inn, Con’s pride drives him to an explosive reckoning with his true place in the New World.
