Producer Daryl Roth has now confirmed that the New York premiere of Between the Lines, which was scheduled to officially open at the Tony Kiser Theater last week, has been postponed until spring 2021. The musical was originally scheduled to begin previews on April 21, 2020, ahead of an official opening on May 7.

In addition, Frozen alum Jake David Smith has been cast as Prince Oliver, replacing previously reported Jason Gotay due to scheduling conflicts.

Smith joins an Off-Broadway cast that includes Arielle Jacobs (as Delilah), Morgan Siobhan Green (as Jules/Ondine), Vicki Lewis (as Ms. Winx/Jessamyn/Jacobs/Mrs. Brown/Kyrie), Will Burton (as Frump/Ryan), Jerusha Cavazos (as Janice/Marina), Pierre Marais (as Martin/Troll/Dad/Delivery Person), John Rapson (as Dr. Ducharme/Rapskullio), Carrie St. Louis (as Allie/Princess Seraphima) and Julia Murney (as Grace/Queen Maureen).

Between the Lines features a book by Timothy Allen McDonald, with music & lyrics by Elyssa Samsel & Kate Anderson, and is based on the 2012 novel by New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult and her daughter, Samantha van Leer.

Synopsis: "An outsider in a new town and a new school, Delilah seeks comfort in the pages of her favorite book, where she feels heard and understood. But as the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur in both extraordinary and astonishing ways, Delilah has to confront whether she alone has the power to rewrite her own story. Between the Lines is an empowering and enchanting new musical for anyone who has ever sought to find their place in the world."

Between the Lines is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun, choreographed by Paul McGill (who replaces previously announced Lorin Latarro), and features orchestrations & arrangements by Tony Award nominee Greg Anthony Rassen.

The world premiere of the new musical was staged at Kansas City Rep in the fall of 2017 and in January 2018, it was presented as a concert version at the 92Y in Manhattan.
