'Jersey Boys' sets Off-Broadway closing date
The show will play its final performance May 22.
All seasons must come to an end. Jersey Boys, the musical about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, has set a closing date for its Off-Broadway run. The show will play its final performance at New World Stages on Sunday, May 22.
Jersey Boys has played in New York for nearly 17 continuous years. The musical opened at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre in 2005 and won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 2006. After closing on Broadway in January 2017, Jersey Boys reopened off Broadway in November 2017, where it has played until now. Its only other hiatus was the industry-wide theatre shutdown amid the pandemic, reopening in November 2021 after closing in March 2020.
Jersey Boys tells the story of how Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons went from humble New Jersey street singers to one of the bestselling musical groups of all time, and shows the internal disputes between the band members alongside their historic successes. Each band member gets a section of the show to narrate his side of the story. The show includes many of the group's greatest hits, like "Big Girls Don't Cry," "December 1963 (Oh, What A Night)," "Sherry," "My Eyes Adored You," and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
The current principal cast includes Jonathan Cable as Nick Massi, Aaron De Jesus as Frankie Valli, CJ Pawlikowski as Bob Gaudio, and John Rochette as Tommy DeVito. The cast also includes Dianna Marie Barger, Ben Bogan, Candi Boyd, Tristen Buettel, Wade Dooley, Alex Dorf, Andrew Frace, Natalie Gallo, John Gardiner, Joey LaVarco, Austin Owen, Michelle Rombola, Paul Sabala and Kit Treece.
