Hugh Jackman, Ella Beatty to return in ‘Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes’ off Broadway

Hannah Moscovitch’s acclaimed play from spring 2025 is the first of multiple productions to be announced in Audible Theater and Together's spring season.

Audible Theater and Together — a theatrical partnership between Hugh Jackman and Sonia Friedman — will present the return of Hannah Moscovitch’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes this spring, starring Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Jackman and Ella Beatty reprising their performances from a spring 2025 run. The show will run at the Minetta Lane Theatre from March 17 to April 20.

Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes centers on the questionable relationship that blooms between college professor Jon (Jackman) and his 19-year-old student Annie (Beatty), tracing the leadup and years-later aftermath along with the affair itself.

“Jackman is the perfect choice for Jon — self-effacing and self-aware, his megawatt charm hooks us on Jon's every dubious word,” New York Theatre Guide’s Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes review reads.

The creative team includes director Ian Rickson, set designers Brett J Banakis and Christine Jones, costume designer Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting designer Isabella Byrd, and sound designer Mikaal Sulaiman.

As part of Audible Theater and Together's accessible ticketing initiative, 25% of seats at each Sexual Misconduct performance will be sold for $35 exclusively at the box office or on the TodayTix app.

Additional programming for Audible Theater and Together's spring 2026 season has yet to be announced. Its premiere season featured Sexual Misconduct running concurrently with a revised revival of August Strindberg's Creditors.
