Complete casting has been set for Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Queens off Broadway, beginning performances at New York City Center on October 14 ahead of a November 5 opening.
The cast includes Brooke Bloom (She’s Lost Control) as Pelagiya, Emmy Award nominee Anna Chlumsky (Veep) as Agata, Sharlene Cruz (Sanctuary City) as Glenys, Tony Award nominee Marin Ireland (Reasons to be Pretty, The Umbrella Academy) as Renia, Tony Award nominee Julia Lester (Into the Woods, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Inna, Nadine Malouf (A Bright Room Called Day) as Aamani, Andrea Syglowski (Evil, Blue Bloods) as Lera, and Nicole Villamil (New Amsterdam) as Isabela.
Trip Cullman directs a reimagined version of the play by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok (Cost of Living), which premiered in 2018. Queens follows a group of multigenerational immigrant women living in an illegal basement apartment in Queens. When a young Ukrainian woman arrives looking for her mother, who had abandoned her years before, she forces all the women to reckon with the sacrifices and choices they made for survival and a chance at a better life.
