"Ain't Too Proud has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our career, but over the past year, the Temptations' story of strength, hope, and standing up for justice has taken on an added significance" said producers Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce. They continued by saying "October 16 will be an epic performance full of love, laughter, and tears of joy, but we know the hard work still lies ahead and we embrace the task whole heartedly."

The 12-time Tony Award-nominated musical documents The Temptations musical career from Motown to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Personal and political conflicts take centre stage in the jukebox musical, with songs including "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" and "My Girl".

Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations features an original book by Dominique Morisseau, with direction by Des McAnuff and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The previous cast included Nik Walker (as Otis Williams), James Harkness (as Paul Williams), Jawan M. Jackson (as Melvin Franklin), Jelani Remy (as Eddie Kendricks), and Matt Manuel (as David Ruffin).

In a review for New York Theatre Guide, "From the very first moment in Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations it is impossible not to be completely engaged... If you remember that era - you will be transported back in an instant."
