About Rope
Get Rope tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see Corey Fogelmanis, Elizabeth Gillies, Jason Butler Harner, Cameron Monaghan, Graham Phillips, and James Waterston star in this beloved and suspenseful murder mystery, now back on stage. Rope was originally written as a play in 1929 by Patrick Hamilton, became an Alfred Hitchcock film in 1948, and is now adapted anew by Drama Desk Award nominee Gordon Greenberg, coming to The New Group and directed by its artistic director, Scott Elliott.
An intoxicating story about appearances and deceit, Rope plays for a limited run at the Theatre at St. Clement's starting October 13. The chilling and thrilling dark comedy brings together famous Gen Z actors alongside established stage and screen vets to give new life to this deadly tale.
In Rope off Broadway, Garrett Stern and Nate Singer have assembled the perfect evening: perfect drinks, perfect food, perfect dinner party company. There's just one more thing: a dead body hidden inside a trunk. What starts off as a fine affair devolves into a game of appearances, mysteries, and lies. A harrowing tale that is as hilarious as it is ghastly, Rope is a new version of a classic play that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The story of Rope was originally inspired by the murder of a 14-year-old boy. Two charming college students committed a terrible act that would come to be known as "the crime of the century." Clarence Darrow would defend the killers, capturing the imagination and fear of a nation. The tie between the murderers was also highly unique, bringing scrutiny to the story.
Now, see how it all unravels live on stage at The New Group, a theatre known for its starry casts in new plays. Tickets to Rope in New York City are available now.

Insanely intense and such an amazing new take on an already fantastic show. Theater setting was so intimate and the venue was gorgeous.
Totally engaging from the moment it started. Very intense performances which benefitted from no break in the action. Would see it again.
LOVED ROPE! Every actor was so impressive and the fact it was only opening night of previews- PHENOMENAL!
