Get Bocking tickets when they go on sale on New York Theatre Guide to see this hilarious comedy from The New Group. A sex comedy that's as wild as it is funny, Bocking plays for a limited time this summer at The New Group's new home; the renowned theatre, until now itinerant, has signed a thirty-year lease with the Theatre at St. Clement's, giving the Tony-winning company a home to present their bold work.
In Bocking off Broadway, it's the parents who are sent to the principal's office: after their children hear strange... sounds... from their parents' bedrooms, two very different sets of adults must come together to make sense of a playground incident gone wrong. Get ready for a wacky farce: bock bock, muthacluckers!
This new play has a bit of everything: a preacher, a gay exorcism, and a chicken named Danalana Parmesana. What could go wrong? The play marks a world premiere from Preston Crowder, Playwright-In-Residence with The New Group through the TOW Foundation. Crowder's work examines Blackness, queerness, and the South, making it a perfect match for a director of comedies: Tony Award-nominated, Obie Award-winning artist Stevie Walker-Webb (Ain't No Mo').
Together, these two bring an extraordinary story to the stage. The New Group is known for its starry casting and for bringing established writers, like Jesse Eisenberg, and newcomers alike a platform. Offering revivals and also new plays, The New Group's production of Bocking is not one to miss. A raunchy romp, Bocking is like if God of Carnage crossed with an exploration of kink, taboos, and desire-meets-devotion.
Get ready for a night of hysterics, antics, and maybe some new ideas for how to liven up a marriage — or get your kids in trouble on the school playground. Tickets to Bocking in New York will be available here soon.
