About 44

Get 44 the Musical tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see Barack Obama as you never have before, and not just because he sings. In this wacky riff on Obama's presidency, audiences will see the 44th (and first Black) president as they never have before. A hit in Chicago, 44 the Musical now takes a bite out of the Big Apple.

Experience 44 the Musical off Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theatre, the same venue that hosted the smash hit and similarly spoofy musical Titanique. 44 is a combination of musical styles that match each character from the Obama era: Sarah Palin scream-singing "Drill Me Baby" like Ozzy Osbourne, President Obama crooning "How Black Is Too Black?" over a smooth Motown groove, and “Filibusters,” a hardcore hip-hop jam where Mitch McConnell and Ted Cruz rap “Green Eggs and Ham” in its entirety.

Many characters from that time take the stage, including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Lindsey Graham, and even Brother Abe Lincoln. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, you'll love this "smart, sophisticated satire" (Chicago Tribune).

The creator and director of the musical, Eli Bauman, said in a statement, "In 2016, when a certain Reality TV star was vying for the Presidency — I am of course talking about Dancing with the Stars contestant, Rick Perry — I thought back to my time working on the Obama '08 campaign in Las Vegas. I knocked on thousands of doors, registered hundreds of voters, and was invited inside the home of an undecided voter to partake in an afternoon orgy (I politely declined, but did convince the entire orgy to vote for Obama). But most of all, I was inspired to do more, to do better, to believe in something."

And that belief was in something we can all love: musical comedy. Tickets to 44 the Musical in New York are available now.
