Get Ginger Twinsies tickets on New York Theatre Guide to see a hilarious parody of your favorite comedy about long-lost twins. Ginger Twinsies plays for a limited run this summer and fall at the Orpheum Theatre. Featuring an Annie (here, a man) and a Halley (a woman) who look, well, nothing like each other, this play is in no way subtle about how much of a hilarious parody it is. A love letter to the hit 90s romcom, Lindsay Lohan, and the insanity of never knowing you had a twin sister, Ginger Twinsies is a sharp, funny play that will fly you to the Napa Valley, London, and back again.
You want the 411? Experience Ginger Twinsies off Broadway to see Instagram comedians like Phillip Taratula as Meredith Blake, Grace Reiter as Chessy, and Mitch Wood as the lizard — yes, that lizard.
For those unfamiliar with the source material, it's the summer of 1998 and Halley and Annie have met at a summer sleep-away camp. There, they learn that they are twins, separated while young, because of their parents' divorce. Naturally, they decide to switch places to see how the other half lives — but also to bring their parents back together to restart a family. Featuring memorable characters like Martin, Nick, and others, the film this parody is based on, The Parent Trap, became a cult classic and launched Lohan's career.
Kevin Zak writes and directs this shameless parody. Packed into 80 minutes, the play is an homage of the classic that made us all believe that Oreos go great with peanut butter, wedding gowns deserve top hats, and being young and beautiful is not a crime. This new play is perfect for newcomers and lovers of the film alike.
1hr 20min. No intermission.
