Experience The Blood Quilt off Broadway to see the newest play directed by Tony Award nominee Lileana Blain-Cruz. That star director returns to Lincoln Center after her acclaimed productions of The Skin of Our Teeth (earning her a Tony nomination) and Marys Seacole (Obie Award). Now, she brings a fierce new drama to the Newhouse Theater, playing this fall for a limited run only.
In The Blood Quilt, four sisters gather at their childhood family home, on a small island off the coast of Georgia. Reuniting, they create a quilt to honor their mother who recently passed. An attempt at ritual is fractured when the sisters read the mother’s will. All must grapple with a surprising and troubling inheritance, and legacy. Finely stitched with laughter and tears, grief and history, the siblings’ blood quilt may finally bond them — or tear them apart forever.
The show first premiered at Arena Stage in Washington, DC, where DC Theatre Scene called it a “must-see” and “loving portrayal of sisters.” The Washington Post noted that “Hall creates roles of vivacity and humor” in this “character-rich drama.”
Now, the stunning play about family, loss, and how time for grieving is both personal and collective comes to Lincoln Center Theater starting in October.
