The Seven Year Disappear off Broadway follows Naphtali (Trensch), whose mother, a renowned performance artist (Nixon), vanished seven years ago. Despite her absence, Naphtali feels her influence around him. When his mother returns with few explanations and a significant request, Naphtali is forced to confront memories he has long suppressed. This funny and thought-provoking play explores mother-son relationships, the challenges of growing up, and the unraveling of family dynamics.
Cynthia Nixon, acclaimed for her roles in TV series like Sex and the City, The Gilded Age, and And Just Like That…, makes a return to The New Group, having previously directed Rasheeda Speaking and Steve.
