*Oh, Mary!* sports a who's who of queer talent: Non-binary writer/performer [Cole Escola](https://www.newyorktheatreguide.com/stars-on-stage/cole-escola), known for the TV show *Search Party*, is a 2025 Tony Award nominee for writing and starring in this irreverent comedy about the life of Mary Todd Lincoln. Shall we go for it? This campy parody musical is a kooky retelling of James Cameron's film *Titanic* through the character of Celine Dion, set to Dion's catalog of timeless hits. Multiple queer actors have appeared in *Titanique*, and it's by the all-queer writing team of Tye Blue, Constantine Rousouli, and Marla Mindelle.

Jack and Rose may be a straight couple, but *Titanique* is a love letter to the LGBT+ community, with plenty of references to queer pop culture, updated regularly as new trends go viral. For four performances only, from June 12-15, British performer Rob Madge finally brings their solo show to New York after a 2024 Broadway premiere got postponed indefinitely. With colorful costumes, reenactments of moments from their childhood, home videos, and original songs, Madge pays homage to their family, who supported their early interests in Disney and theatre and, later, their non-binary identity.

All we need to say is that *Death Becomes Her* opens with a song called "For the Gaze," and yes, it sounding like "for the gays" is intentional. The Meryl Streep/Goldie Hawn film of the same name has gained a large cult following of queer fans since its 1992 premiere, and that song is a love letter to them as well as a plain entertaining showstopper (complete with half a dozen costume changes) for everyone else. And the musical — about feuding frenemies who drink an eternal-youth potion with consequences — only gets more hilarious from there.

*Queen of Hearts* is a burlesque variety show based on the classic children's tale of *Alice in Wonderland*. People don't often associate that story with LGBT themes, and that's still not the core focus of this sexy, adult version. This reimagined production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musical is a celebration of queer history, set in the NYC ballroom scene. In the late 20th century, queer people, largely those of color, would gather to compete in "balls" for prizes and glory. They would often compete on behalf of houses — groups of people who became each other's chosen family.

In *Cats*, the characters compete to see who will ascend to the blissful Heaviside Layer and get a chance at new life. This revival, an Off-Broadway hit in 2024, is teasing an NYC return, so keep an eye out for more information in Pride month and beyond.
