Mind Mangler: A Night of Tragic Illusion Information

Award-winning British theatre troupe Mischief Theatre presents the U.S. premiere of Mind Mangler, the company's latest comedy show — this time with hypnosis in the mix. Get Mind Mangler tickets on New York Theatre Guide.

Fresh off the hit 2023 Broadway premiere of Mischief's Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and playing in the same building as its enduring hit The Play That Goes Wrong, comes Mind Mangler. The play's title character is a co-creation of Mischief's founders (Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields) and renowned magician duo Penn and Teller. Shortly after his disappointing run at the Scranton, PA Holiday Inn Conference Center, suite 2B, the Mind Mangler returns to the stage with a new solo spectacular, in which he will attempt to read minds.

As with the previous shows that put Mischief on the map, things go chaotically wrong. The company debuted stateside with The Play That Goes Wrong, about an amateur theatre troupe's ill-fated opening night, in 2017. Following a two-year Broadway run, the show moved off Broadway to New World Stages, where it continues to run. Peter Pan Goes Wrong enjoyed a five-month Broadway run with Shields, Lewis, and Sayer reprising the roles they originated in the show's London world premiere in 2013.

Similarly, Lewis and Sayer reprise their U.K. roles for the premiere of Mind Mangler off Broadway. The character first appeared in the Mischief play Magic Goes Wrong, and they debuted his own show at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and took it on tour across the U.K. in 2023.
