The Coast Starlight Information
Keith Bunin returns off Broadway with his latest play, The Coast Starlight, at Lincoln Center Theater. Get The Coast Starlight tickets on New York Theatre Guide.
The Coast Starlight play is set aboard the train of the title, which runs between Los Angeles and Seattle. One passenger on that 35-hour, thousand-mile trip is holding a secret that could bring him trouble, and his fellow passengers — all with baggage and struggles of their own to contend with — help him figure out what to do before they reach their destination.
The Coast Starlight marks Bunin's return to Off-Broadway for the first time in 16 years. He had four previous plays off Broadway in the early 2000s, three of which premiered with Playwrights Horizons: The Credeaux Canvas, The Busy World is Hushed, and The World Over. The fourth and most recent, 2007's 10 Million Miles, went up with Atlantic Theater Company.
Director Tyne Rafaeli worked at Lincoln Center Theater in 2022, directing Brian Watkins's Epiphany, and in 2019, directing Sylvia Khoury's Power Strip. In between, she directed another Khoury play, Selling Kabul, at Playwrights Horizons in 2021, which went on to become a 2022 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Rafaeli received a Drama League nomination for her work on that show.
The cast of The Coast Starlight in New York features three actors making their Lincoln Center Theater debuts (Camila Canó-Flaviá, Will Harrison, Michelle Wilson) and one making their New York theatre debut (Harrison).
