Melissa Etheridge: My Window is an intimate performance that combines Etheridge's singular music with personal stories. She shares tales of her Kansas childhood, career highs and lows, personal milestones, and more, all intertwined with songs that capture the emotions associated with each moment.
For Melissa Etheridge: My Window on Broadway, the singer collaborates with the showrunner and her wife, Linda Wallem-Etheridge, who contributed additional material; and director Amy Tinkham, known for staging concerts for rock bands like Aerosmith. Tinkham and Wallem-Etheridge both make their Broadway debuts with this concert.
Etheridge last appeared on Broadway in 2011, when she made her debut with a six-day guest engagement as St. Jimmy in American Idiot. She returned to the Theatre District in 2022 with the world premiere of My Window in New York, then titled Melissa Etheridge Off-Broadway: My Window – A Journey Through Life.
Melissa Etheridge's most popular songs include the Grammy Award-winning "Come to My Window" and "Ain't It Heavy," the Oscar-winning "I Need to Wake Up," "I'm the Only One," "I Want to Come Over," and "If I Wanted To." In Melissa Etheridge: My Window on Broadway, she sings many of these hits in addition to more rarely performed songs from her 35-year career.
In general, Etheridge's music is folk rock with elements of pop. She is known for her distinct, raspy singing voice. Etheridge has released 16 full-length albums in her career and earned a total of 15 Grammy nominations.
