About The Little Prince on Broadway

The latest stage adaptation of The Little Prince, based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's classic novella, comes to Broadway after playing acclaimed runs across the globe. Get The Little Prince tickets on New York Theatre Guide now.

The Little Prince play unfolds when an aviator crash-lands in the Sahara Desert and comes upon the titular character, who has been on Earth for nearly a year with little contact with other humans. The young boy hails from a small planet called Asteroid 325 (or Asteroid B-612, if you ask anyone on Earth), where he spends his days tending to a beautiful rose that he loves. But soon, feeling lonely, he embarks on an interplanetary journey to better understand the world and himself.

Over eight day, he develops a friendship with the aviator, and the Little Prince regales all his adventures. He meets six people from six different planets on his cosmic journey, each of whom is an adult utterly absorbed in a certain job: king, geographer, businessman, lamplighter, and more. The Little Prince learns for the first time about the nature of adulthood, the fleeting nature of life, and how to deal with love, loneliness, and doubt. The Little Prince's story comes to life with music, dance, acrobatics, and video in this new Broadway production.

Though The Little Prince is a children's book, it is mature in its treatment of love and loss and has endeared readers of all ages through the years. Since its publishing in 1943, The Little Prince has sold approximately 140 million copies worldwide, making it one of the bestselling books ever published. It's also received the most translations of any book, having been published in 301 languages.

Chris Mouron's stage adaptation of The Little Prince on Broadway, co-directed by Anne Tournié, previously ran in Sydney, Paris, and Dubai, receiving rave reviews. Now, an all-new iteration of this production comes home to New York — where de Saint-Exupéry wrote the original novel — with the international cast and creative team intact.
