About ...what the end will be

Roundabout Theatre Company mounts its first mainstage production by playwright Mansa Ra (also known as Jiréh Breon Holder), following his 2017 Roundabout Underground debut, Too Heavy For Your Pocket. His new play, ...what the end will be, was initially scheduled for a run at the Laura Pels Theatre in spring 2020. Now, the show finally debuts on that very same stage. ...what the end will be tickets are available on New York Theatre Guide now.

...what the end will be is a play about three generations of Black, gay men living in the same home. Living at the intersection of those two identities has shaped each man's life differently, and what it means to be Black and gay differs for them all. Weighing in on each other's experiences, as only family can, forces them to grapple with their own. The play is a look at the similarities and differences between fathers and sons and how they exhibit pride, patience, and pain.

Ra made his playwright debut with Roundabout in 2017, when the company produced his play Too Heavy For Your Pocket. The show was part of the Roundabout Underground program, which provides a platform for work by emerging playwrights, many of whom go on to get their works produced on Roundabout's larger stages later. Such was the case for Ra, now that Roundabout has commissioned ...what the end will be Off-Broadway. He's teamed up with Margot Bordelon, who directed the Too Heavy For Your Pocket production, once again for ...what the end will be. The play is Ra's second Off-Broadway show this season, after Rattlestick Playwrights Theater produced his play In The Southern Breeze in fall 2021.
