About Burn This

In December 2019, Oscar and 3-time Emmy Award nominee Adam Driver will once again take us to a galaxy far, far away and reprise his fan favorite role of Kylo Ren in Episode IX of the famed "Star Wars" franchize... and he'll be joined in that movie by Golden Globe winner Keri Russell!

Broadway fans, however, get the chance to witness this intriguing pairing live and in person at the Hudson Theatre, long before the force re-awakens, as they take on the first-ever Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson's fiery drama Burn This. Expect some explosive acting when the two go head-to-head as Pale and Anna Mann - the roles originated (and made famous) by John Malkovich and Joan Allen.

Burn This originally premiered off-Broadway in 1987 and, due to its critical success, a Broadway transfer was greenlit that same year. The Broadway premiere production would play the Plymouth Theatre, running for a total of 437 performances from October 7, 1987 to October 29, 1988, and Joan Allen received the Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Play" for her performance.

The play has since been performed across the globe, most notably in a 1990 Australian production (courtesy of Sydney Theatre Company) starring Heather Mitchell and Richard Roxburgh and a 1990 West End premiere with Malkovich reprising the role of Pale opposite Juliet Stevenson. The last major New York production of the piece was staged by Signature Theatre in 2002, starring Edward Norton, earning a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for "Outstanding Revival" (and Mr. Norton winning an Obie Award for his performance).

For the Broadway revival, Mr. Driver and Ms. Russell are joined by a couple of accomplished stage actors who are also Tony Award nominees in their own right. Brandon Uranowitz takes on the role of Larry, whilst David Furr plays Burton in the Manhattan-centric four-hander.

Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, performances began on March 15, 2019 at Broadway's Hudson Theatre.

More information about Burn This

Burn This tells the story of four New Yorkers whose lives are uprooted by a young dancer's accidental death. Set in downtown New York in the raw and gritty 1980s, the combustible drama explores the spiritual and emotional isolation of the dangerous, sexy, raw and demanding Pale and the modern dancer Anna, and their tempestuous relationship after the two iconoclasts are brought together in the wake of a life-changing personal tragedy.
