Tony Hawk to produce and add skateboard choreography to musical adaptation of SLAM?
Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk has his eyes set on the Great White Way. A musical adaptation of the 2007 Nick Hornby novel SLAM is in development and hoping to bow on Broadway during the 2020-2021 season. Hawk, alongside Anita Greenspan, is set to produce the musical and develop skate choreography for the stage. Tony Award nominee Kyle Jarrow and Mark Mothersbaugh have also been enlisted to write the book and score, respectively. SLAM follows is a coming-of-age tale about a troubled 17-year-old named Sam, who finds refuge, hope and escapism in the world of skateboarding and imagined conversations with his idol, Tony Hawk.
