And they were roommates! Three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and seven-time Golden Globe nominee Mia Farrow will co-star in the new Broadway play The Roommate this fall. Performances will run at the Booth Theatre for 16 weeks, beginning on August 29 ahead of an official opening on September 12.

The Roommate is LuPone's first Broadway play since 2012's The Anarchist; she is better known for starring in musicals like Anything Goes, Evita, and Gypsy (winning Tonys for the latter two). She was last on Broadway from 2021-22 in the musical Company, for which she won her third Tony Award.

Farrow, known for her onscreen performances in films like Rosemary's Baby, Death on the Nile, and Alice, will return to Broadway for the first time since starring in 2014's Love Letters. Her other Broadway credits include Getting Away With Murder and Romantic Comedy.

The creative team for The Roommate includes director Jack O'Brien (Hairspray, Shucked), set and costume designer Bob Crowley, lighting designer Natasha Katz, and sound designer Mikaal Sulaiman.

The Roommate, written by Jen Silverman, follows Sharon, a divorced woman from Iowa who takes in Robyn, a lodger from the Bronx. In living together, they uncover each other's secrets and desires to change their lives.

The play premiered in Louisville, Missouri, in March 2015. Silverman's other plays include Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, The Moors, and Spain, which appeared off Broadway in fall 2023.
