Oh, Broadway! Following its critically acclaimed, extended run off Broadway this spring, Cole Escola’s Oh, Mary! will play a limited Broadway engagement this summer. Performances will run at the Lyceum Theatre from June 26 to September 15, with opening night on July 11.

Oh, Mary! is a wacky, largely fictional account of the life of former First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, directed by Sam Pinkleton. Set in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, the play shows her dealing with alcoholism, repressed desire, and an unstoppable love for the theatre.

The show premiered at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in January, now running through May 12 after two extensions. Escola, known for their performance as Chip in the HBO Max show Search Party, made their Off-Broadway debut writing Oh, Mary! and starring in the title role. They now make their Broadway debut with the show.

The cast also includes Conrad Ricamora as Mary's Husband, James Scully as Mary's Teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s Chaperone, Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, Hannah Solow, and Peter Smith. All reprise their roles from Oh, Mary! off Broadway.

Yesterday, the Off-Broadway production received three 2024 Outer Critics Circle nominations: Outstanding New American Play and acting nominations for Escola and Ricamora.

New York Theatre Guide’s four-star review of Oh, Mary! reads, “Fans of Escola will eat up every move of Mary’s head.”
