Some Like It Hot

The world premiere of Some Like It Hot is expected to open on Broadway in fall 2021, with cast, venue and production dates to be confirmed.

Inspired by the 1935 French film Fanfare of Love, the American romantic comedy follows two jazz musicians in Prohibition-era Chicago as they disguise themselves in an all-female band. But, while in hiding, they both fall in love with the band's singer and ukulele player, Sugar.

Marilyn Monroe famously starred in the movie as Sugar, with Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon as Joe and Jerry.

The Some Like It Hot creative team includes a book by Matthew Lopez, adapting the 1959 Billy Wilder film for the stage. Music is by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph the production.

Some Like It Hot was previously adapted for Broadway in 1972 as Sugar, which was nominated for four Tony Awards including best new musical.
