Emmy and BAFTA Award winner Jodie Comer is set to make her Broadway debut this spring. After starring in Suzie Miller's one-woman show Prima Facie in London, she is transferring with the show to Broadway in spring 2023 at a theatre to be announced. Comer is known for her television roles as Villainelle on Killing Eve — which won her 2019 Leading Actress awards at the BAFTAs and Emmys — as well as Help (a TV movie that earned her another BAFTA win), Thirteen (earning her first BAFTA nomination), and The White Princess. She's also starred in movies like Free Guy and The Last Duel.
After a sell-out engagement in London's West End, Prima Facie will premiere on Broadway. Jodie Comer will star in Prima Facie. Prima Facie tickets will be available on New York Theatre Guide soon.
The Prima Facie play follows Tessa, a young, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working class origins to be at the top of her game; defending; cross examining and winning. An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge.
In a Prima Facie review on London Theatre, a critic said: "She shot to fame playing psychopathic assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve, but Jodie Comer’s West End debut in Suzie Miller’s one-woman show Prima Facie... embodies an urgent real-life issue, this time an indefensibly broken legal system, and, in an astonishing tour-de-force performance, Comer commits, body and soul, to laying bare the human cost."
Tickets to Prima Facie will be available soon.
