Curtains are up and we see Kristin Chenoweth in an undershirt inside out with tags exposed working on lyrics at the piano. What happened to curtain call warning? How can they start the show without me ready? She encourages fans to take out their cell phones and take photos of her scantily clad. She assures us there are underpants under the oversized tee. Kristin Chenoweth: For The Girls
Following the success of 2016's solo concert engagement entitled My Love Letter to Broadway, Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth returns to the Great White Way to celebrate the release of her new studio album, which pays homage to all her favorite female artists.
For The Girls includes covers of iconic songs from beloved artists such as Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Carole King, and Judy Garland. In the concert series, cans can expect heavenly renditions of the likes of "The Way We Were," "When I Fall in Love," "The Man That Got Away," and “I Will Always Love You,” among many others, on the Broadway stage.
Kristin Chenoweth, of course, shot to Broadway superstardom after originating the role of Glinda in the musical phenomenon Wicked. By that time, she was already a Tony Award winner thanks to a breakthrough performance in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and post-Wicked, she gained a whole new legion of fans thanks to her television roles on NBC’s “The West Wing,” ABC’s “Pushing Daisies” (earning her first Emmy Award in 2009), and Fox’s hit musical series “Glee.”
As a recording artist, she has released a total of seven studio albums, beginning with 2001’s “Let Yourself Go.” Her 2016 album “The Art of Elegance,” the inspiration for My Love Letter to Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, landed on the top spot of the US Jazz charts and her albums, generally, show off her beautiful, soprano vocals. Featuring a mixture of covers and original music and even an album devoted to the Holiday season, her back catalogue boasts her versatility as a singer and performer.
For The Girls celebrates some of the greatest women the music industry has ever given us, as we, in turn, celebrate one of the greatest leading ladies of the modern Broadway era.
