The Lion King: Dashaun Young returns as Simba
On 16 May 2012 Dashaun Young once again returns to the role of 'Simba' in Walt Disney's Broadway production of The Lion King playing at the Minskoff Theatre.
Young has previously played the role of 'Simba' on Broadway, North American tour, and most recently in the Las Vegas company. Broadway’s current 'Simba,' Adam Jacobs, will take a brief hiatus, returning to the show on 26 Jun 2012.
In addition to The Lion King, Young has appeared in New York and on tour in: 'Hairspray' (first national tour), 'Legends' (NY premiere), 'The Scottsboro Boys' (reading), 'Emerald Man' (workshop). His regional credits include 'Hairspray,' 'Hello, Dolly!,' 'Aida' and 'Radio City Christmas Spectacular.'
The Lion Kingl opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre on 13 Nov 1997, following previews from 15 Oct. On the 13 Jun 2006 the musical moved to the Minskoff Theatre.
The musical tells the story of the epic adventures of a young lion cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destined role as king.
