The Broadway production of Tracy Letts' comic-drama, August: Osage County, plays its final performance on 28 Jun 2009. When the show closes it will have played 18 previews and 648 regular performances.

August: Osage County transferred to the Music Box Theatre on 29 Apr 2008 from the Imperial Theatre. The show played its final performance at the Imperial Theatre on 20 Apr 2008, where it opened on 4 Dec 2007, following previews from 30 Oct 2007.

August: Osage County: When their patriarch vanishes, the Weston clan must return to their three-story home in rural Oklahoma to get to the heart of the matter.

The play opened to excellent reviews: 'Letts...knows just how to put the "fun" back into "dysfunctional.' (New York Theatre Guide), 'The most exciting new American play Broadway has seen in years.' (New York Times); "You're laughing hysterically one minute and appalled the next as the 3 1/2 -hour play flies by" (New York Daily News); "It's enormously entertaining." (The Record); "So darkly delicious and ghastly that you're squirming in your seat even as you're doubled over laughing." (Variety).

The show features Michael Milligan (Little Charles), Phylicia Rashad (Violet Weston), Brian Kerwin (Steve Heidebrecht), Kimberly Guerrero (Johnna Monevata), Guy Boyd (Charlie Aiken), John Cullum (Beverly Weston), Mariann Mayberry (Karen Weston), Amy Morton (Barbara Fordham), Sally Murphy (Ivy Weston), Anne Berkowitz (Jean Fordham), Frank Wood (Bill Fordham), Elizabeth Ashley (Mattie Fai Aiken) and Troy West (Sherrif Deon Gilbeau).

August: Osage County is the winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, and five 2008 Tony Awards: Best Play, Best Director of a Play � Anna D. Shapiro, Best Actress in a Play � Deanna Dunagan, Best Featured Actress in a Play � Rondi Reed and Best Set Design of a Play � Todd Rosenthal.

The original Broadway company, directed by Anna D. Shapiro, featured Ian Barford, Deanna Dunagan, Kimberly Guerrero, Francis Guinan, Brian Kerwin, Dennis Letts, Madeleine Martin, Mariann Mayberry, Amy Morton, Sally Murphy, Jeff Perry, Rondi Reed and Troy West, with understudies Munson Hicks, Susanne Marley, Jay Patterson, Dee Pelletier, Molly Ranson and Kristina Valada-Viars.

The play welcomed many new cast members throughout its run, including Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons, Tony Award winners John Cullum, Elizabeth Ashley, and Frank Wood. The cast also welcomed Tony nominee Johanna Day, Robert Foxworth, Molly Regan, Michael McGuire, Michael Milligan, Guy Boyd, Scott Jaeck, Anne Berkowitz, Samantha Ross, Jim True-Frost, and Amy Warren, with understudies Aaron Serotsky, Stephen Payne, Avia Bushyhead, Frank Deal, and Emily Walton.

August: Osage County is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jean Doumanian, Steve Traxler and Jerry Frankel, in association with Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

As previously announced, August: Osage County will begin its National Tour, starring Academy award winner Estelle Parsons, at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts on 24 Jul 2009, before travelling to more than 18 locations all around the country.

The next production at the Music Box Theatre will be Tracy Letts drama "Superior Donuts" beginning previews from 16 Sep 2009, and opening on 1 Oct 2009.
