Baltimore 1954. Everyone likes Ike, nobody likes Communism and Wade 'Cry-Baby' Walker is the baddest boy in town. He's a rebel with a cause truth, justice and the pursuit of rock 'n' roll and when he falls for a good girl, his square little suburb rocks around the clock.

What the press had to say.....

"This show in search of an identity has all the saliva-stirring properties of week-old pre-chewed gum." & "Cry-Baby” arrives like a weaker, shyer younger sibling, bidding uncertainly for its moment in the sun." & "A show that is terminally flat."
Ben Brantley
New York Times

"The show aims simply to be trashy good fun. It hits the mark about half the time"
Joe Dziemianowicz
New York Daily News

"It's the kind of music that makes you wonder whether you've heard it before, just before you stop caring." & "It's left to Rob Ashford's conventional but punchy choreography ... to give the show any particular energy." & "It's no "Hairspray" - it just doesn't gel as well."
Clive Barnes
New York Post

"Meet "Cry-Baby," a new ha-ha extravaganza of upbeat songs and lowdown dancing." & "Scarcely a show for the little ones, "Cry-Baby" is so much candy for adults who like their musicals nutty and not so nice."
Michael Sommers
Star-Ledger

"Cry-Baby will make you smile, and laugh, without patronizing you, or anyone else."
Elysa Gardner
USA Today

"Over-caffeinated and under-motivated show"
Eric Grode
New York Sun

"Lightning doesn't strike twice. "Cry-Baby," the Broadway musical adapted from John Waters's movie, does not repeat the success of his ``Hairspray."
John Simon
Bloomberg

"The musical wobbles onward to its labored conclusion."
Jacques Le Sourd
Journal News

"Cry-Baby" has been done with style and humor, and I'd happily return to re-experience some of its terrific musical numbers. Otherwise, though, it left me feeling unengaged."
Robert Feldberg
The Record

"The musical feels as if it's limping pallidly in the shadow of "Grease.""
Peter Marks
Washington Post

"Whatever its inspirations, this vanilla show lacks a fresh identity of its own."
David Rooney
Variety
